Collective Santa Twitter app

This year Collective held a competition to concept and design the agencies annual Christmas e-card. The brief was to create a viral piece of marketing aimed at increasing traffic to the homepage, spread awareness and most importantly be amazing...

One of the ideas i submitted won!

The winning solution was to create a 'Naughty or Nice' Twitter-driven app, headed up by our very own Collective Santa. Visitors enter their Twitter username to wake Santa from his snooze.
They can then watch as Santa checks their tweets for various naughty or nice key words while he boogies to the music

Once the results are in, Santa responds by telling the user if they are naughty or nice and what they deserve this Christmas (anything from a "farting Christmas dog" to "a New Year lottery win)

The cool thing is that if the user has been naughty, they'll be encouraged to add some Christmas cheer to their tweets and try again to make the good list. The results are then Shared on Collective Santa's twitter page and can also be shared on the user's Twitter or other social networking pages. The user can also choose to add a new naughty or nice profile picture to show all their followers.

So far the results have been great, traffic is up by 300% and we have had celebrity retweets from BB9's Mario to American actress Alyssa Milano (from Charmed) It's also been really insightful as you can follow how it has been spreading in real time. A real eye opener to how things spread.

Honda Facebook

Honda have officially launched a Facebook fan page today which i had been working on. The brief was to create a brand experience portal, inspiring the Honda communities to share photos, videos & memories relating to Honda products. It will also be a space to showcase all of Honda's current campaigns such as the new Type R Mugen launch and the Honda 'Do It' campaign, as well as encouraging people to get follow the latest news regarding Honda via Twitter.

Honda Facebook

This is the start of hopefully a stronger presence in Facebook for Honda, with many bespoke Honda channels coming up. There has also been the launch of a Facebook fan page specifically for the Type R Mugen here.

Loonar Goupe Pinhole Camera

I received a cool Pinhole camera kit in the post a while back, and finally found the time to put it together this weekend. What's really cool about the kit is that it takes a standard 35mm film!

Should hopefully be posting up some cool pinhole photos later, looking through flickr even if the exposures aren't perfect the results can still end up quite beautiful.

RCA Secrets 2009 on sale this Saturday

The RCA hold an annual exhibition of original postcard sized art generated by professional artists, designers and illustrators. The really exciting element is that every year they invite a few art gods to submit a postcard into the mix. Past years have seen Damien Hurst, David Baily, Nick Park, as well as fashion designer Sir Paul Smith. This year i am mostly excited by Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry! I really love his latest work the Walthamstow tapestry the details in his work is amazing. Other artists this year include Gerhard Richter, Bill Viola, and Julian Opie.

RCA Secrets 2009

The cool thing is that you don't know what your buying as the artists have signed the back of the postcard, it could turn out to be worth significantly more than the £40 it costs per postcard.

Lindsey Carr aka Little Robot

Just stumbled across the artwork of Lindsey Carr (aka Littlerobot). The work is characterized primarily by organic forms, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs. Her digital collages remind me of Dan Hillier but what sets her apart is her ability to create similar work in traditional oil paintings.

She also has an etsy shop where you can buy her prints. If you have a bit of cash saved up you can also buy original oil paintings at the Imagine Gallery

Laser Etchings by Scott Campbell

If you have a spare 5 minutes you should check out the art of Scott Campbell. Scott works in New York as a tattoo artist but has also produced these incredible laser etched dollar bills. The intricacy of the design motifs work really well with the existing details of the note themselves.

The intricacy of the design motifs work really well with the existing details of the dollar bills. The sinister nature of the images projected onto the dollar bills really gives you a sense of unease and distrust.

Many thanks to Lou and Chris for collecting the last 2 for me and kindly framing them, looks great on my wall! As a fellow student at the Nottingham Trent university it's great to see Jon Burgerman referencing various Nottingham landmarks in the piece, makes the whole thing feel more personal.
