There is such beauty in the sculpture work of Kate MccGwire that it can be difficult to take in at first. The sculptures have such rhythm and movement that they twist in on themselves creating an infinite Möbius strip of feathers. Working in many cases with pigeon feathers (which for some is seen as a filthy bird) Kate attempts to evolve peoples preconceptions about beauty. Simply by presenting the feathers in a different way she entices the viewer to re-examine their own prejudices.
Looking through her site i can see she has an exhibition at Pertwee Anderson and Gold from the 21st February to 24th March, see you there.
