The Shakey Monkey Space app by Cog Design

Browsing through the app store last night i came across this little gem of an app from the guys over at Cog design. Bored by the retro futurist style, which inevitably crops up time and time again on the various design communities. Cog have created this nifty little image generator, that with a mere shake of the iphone will generate a new piece of art. I love the attention to detail Cog have gone to, you can even export and share the image mapped out onto a person holding the poster. However most of all i love the name.

Below are a few examples to look through, although you may as well just get it for yourself (it's free)

It would be great to see if some of this work does in fact make it on sites like ffffound, if anyone sees any please let me know.

Adam Buxton's Bug 24 at the BFI

Last Friday a few of us attended Bug 24 at the BFI. Hosted by Adam Buxton, it's a night showcasing the latest 'quirky' music videos doing the rounds, with a few comical comments from the YouTube community thrown in for good measure.

As mention in a previous Bug post, it looks like they are starting to create YouTube playlists of the Bug shows, however it takes a fair amount of time after the show before they are uploaded. In the mean time, i've selected a few 'Choice' videos for you to look through (just click the images to be taken to the YouTube videos).

Anyone interested should note the nights sell out very quickly as members of the BFI get pre-orders which normally fill the venue, however there are always the occasional free seat on the night so it may be worth just popping down.

Crysis 2 'Live Alien Invasion' - Projections around London and Paris

As promised here is a follow up post on the Crysis 2 projections we did last week in London and Paris. As a quick recap, we went around London and Paris projecting the game onto various iconic landmarks, giving members of the public a chance to play the game before its release.

The video went live yesterday on the official Facebook and YouTube Crysis channels, and is getting a good response so far. You can view the video for yourself here.

Below are a few stills from the video, showing off the new Paris locations we filmed last Thursday.

Also credit to Collective colleague Adam Cousins (aka 'Badadam') for the Track 'Energetic Pumping' which is the soundtrack to the video - works really well. Again, if you want to see photos from the London Shoot check out my Flickr set here.

Pick Me Up London Art Fair 2011

A few of us headed down to Somerset House last night to attend the Pick Me Up art fair. I attended Last year's show and was impressed with the quality of work on display, Rob Ryan's open studio was a real highlight. This year, designer Anthony Burrill opens up his studio, giving visitors a chance to look through and immerse themselves in his iconic style.

Highlights of the show for me were Tom Gauld's witty comic illustrations, the black and white world of McBess', and the Collage work of Seiko Kato.

Joy of Living Exhibition at Somerset House 2011

Before heading into this years Pick Me Up, I took a few photos of the Joy of Living exhibition housed in the great arch lobby of Somerset house. London Design Guide editor Max Fraser has challenged more than 100 established and new UK-based designers to create a piece of artwork from a single sheet of A4 graph paper to raise money for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centers.

It was great to see such a high level of creativity in the various pieces on display, it's amazing what you can do with one sheet of graph paper. The exhibition runs until 21st March so you'll need to be quick. More photos of the show are uploaded here.

Crysis 2 - Live Alien Invasion London

On Tuesday evening, myself and a few Collective colleagues headed out onto the streets of London for the Crysis 2 'Live Alien Invasion'. Travelling with a projection team and a film crew, we beamed the new Crysis 2 game onto various iconic locations around town. The projector was hooked up to an Xbox 360, allowing members of the public a chance to have a first play on the game and on a large scale. We started off at the Southbank before heading off to Chinatown, then ending the night up in Shoreditch Highstreet. Yesterday, a few members of the team headed out to Paris to do it all again (I'll post photos when they come through).

Each location was kept a secret until the night, when information was seeded out on the community pages, using Facebook Places to invite people to come along and play the game.

All in all a great night. If you want to see more photos of the evening, check out my Flickr set here.

Stationary Excess performance at the ICA

As i was out of London most of this week i missed out on most of the Shunt events at the ICA, however i did pop in on Sunday and was treated to a performance by Stationary Excess. Mixing up spoken word with music and dance, it was a pretty weird experience but interesting non the less.
